5 tips to help your make up beat the heat this summer

The summer season is great for many things such as beer gardens and barbecues but the hot weather can also ruin your make up and make it melt but the good news is there are ways to avoid this and I’m about to talk you through them, if you don’t want your hard work ruined, here are 5 tips to help your face survive the heat

Prep your skin

Prepping your skin is one of the most important steps of make up application in hot weather, to make sure it lasts you need to clean the skin thoroughly before applying any skincare or make up, first cleanse with an oil to break down dirt on the skin then use a light toner to rejuvenate the skin, next apply an oil free spf before a water based moisturiser

Invest in a primer

Whether you’re going for a subtle daytime look or a full glam evening look, a primer will provide multiple benefits. Wearing face and eye primers are one of the top tips to prevent make up melting off your face but you need to make sure you’re using the right primer for your skin type also if your skin is oily, it’s really important to prime your T zone

Go for a light base

When the temperature outside is really hot, you don’t want to be adding layers and layers of foundation, not only is it going to melt, the heat can also block your pores and trigger a breakout, instead opt for a tinted moisturiser, BB cream or CC cream and make sure you choose a heat friendly concealer too

Opt for waterproof mascara

Heat and moisture can cause your mascara to run which means panda eyes, a look nobody wants to have to contend with so invest in a waterproof formula then you won’t have any problems

Lock it in

If you’re going to be out all day and don’t want to worry about constant touch ups, setting spray is the answer, not only will it help to keep your make up in place, it will also refresh the skin
