Throw away the face wipes, it’s all about double cleansing

Hi everyone, if you’re a regular reader of my blog, you will know that I love beauty and love sharing my tips and tricks here and there, today I’m going to tell you all about double cleansing, I’ve been doing this for about a year now and I think it is the way forward and that everyone should learn about it, everything you need to know about this awesome skincare technique is in this post, I know you’re sat here thinking “what even is double cleansing?”, “is it worth the hype?” now is your chance to find out

What is double cleansing?

Double cleansing is a method of cleansing your face twice: first with an oil based cleanser and again with a gel or water based cleanser, your first cleanser will remove all your make up plus dirt and pollution and the second one will address your particular skin type or concerns and treat the skin. Yes you could pick up two make up cleansers and you would end up with an extremely clean face but please don’t do that because you wouldn’t get the full benefit of a double cleanse. If you’re used to “cleaning” your face with a face wipe before hitting the sack, you’ll probably hate this method at first and find it time consuming but those extra few minutes are worth it and once you start you’ll never look at a face wipe again.

Why take up double cleansing?

Not only are face wipes bad for your skin, they don’t clean your face properly, they just take off what’s on the surface, you’d be surprised at how much residue is left on your face after removing make up, that’s why double cleansing is the way forward, it might be more expensive but it is so much better for your skin, the oil will lift the make up off your skin and melt it away then you give your skin a deeper cleanse and your skin will absorb the benefits of the ingredients of your water or gel. Once you get into this method, you’ll find your skin will be healthier and feel smoother and refreshed, you may also find breakouts aren’t happening as often, another reason why it is important to make sure all the gunk and grime is off your face after a long day/night is because otherwise the toners and serums won’t be able to work properly as your pores will be clogged

Is double cleansing suitable for everybody’s skin?

If you’re wondering if double cleansing is going to be suitable for your skin, the answer is it all comes down to product selection, like most things in beauty, this is not a simple routine of picking up any two cleansers, you need to find the right double cleanse duo for your skin, using the right products for your skin type also allows you to avoid over washing and over drying your skin which you don’t want to do as you’ll strip too much of your natural oils which will then lead to breakouts and irritation.
